Last sailing of the season

Wendy and Kim have a sailing boat and they go to the Netherlands every weekend during the season. In this article Wendy describes their last sailing for 2007.
A great weekend .
Last weekend my husband, Kim, and I went to our boat in the Netherlands. We caught the 6 pm ferry from Dover to Dunkerque and were sitting on the boat with a cup of tea (me) and a beer (Kim) by 10.30 pm. It was a bit cold but we have an electric heater and the boat is not very big so we soon got it warm.
On Saturday
morning we walked into the village and got rolls at the bakers and some ham, cheese and vegetables at the little supermarket. It was very cold and grey and we werent sure about going out for a sail, but as it was probably the last sail of the season, we decided to wrap up warm and go. There was quite a good wind and the sailing was really good. We sailed for about 6 miles, then came back. On the way back to the marina, the sky started to clear and it was lovely. We arrived back at the marina just as it was starting to get dark.
In the evening we cooked dinner on board the boat. We had steak and kidney pie, brought from England, with roast potatoes, sugar snap peas and carrots. We also had a bottle of Italian wine which was excellent. After dinner we watched some TV and went to bed.
On Sunday morning we had a lie in, especially as the clocks had gone back an hour. Then we got up, went to the showers and started clearing the boat. We needed to take home all linen, bedding, cushions, books .. in fact everything that might be affected by damp during the winter. It took ages to carry everything to the car. We then gave the boat a good clean and set off for home at about 2 pm. Unfortunately our ferry was late because of bad weather in the channel, but we were still indoors by 8.15 pm. All in all it was a brilliant weekend.
