In this article Franoise describes her trip to Roma.

At the beginning of March, I went to Roma with a friend. It's very easy by train , we left Paris in the evening and arrived in Roma around 10pm.
First we got to the hotel and left our suitcases. Now Roma was ours!!! We started visiting
First we got to the hotel and left our suitcases. Now Roma was ours!!! We started visiting

St Peter's basilica, the Vatican and of course the Sistine Chapel. As we just had a sandwich for lunch and we were very tired our reward was a delicious dinner at the "trastevere" We had Risotto and spaguetti alla vongole , huge and unhealthy portions but so good!! and then back to the hotel it was enough on the first day.

On the second day we decided to visit the
"Colosseo"and the surroundings. We walked along the Tiber River ( quieter than the streets ,actually Roma is a very noisy city) and then we walked over two bridges to get to the Tiberian Island.
We visited the Colosseo, the forum, the Palatin ( very antique remains). They are very impressive. On our way back to the hotel we saw the Maximilian's mausoleum ( one of the lattest kings of Italy) derogatorily called " the sewing machine" by the Italians. After a whole day visiting we had a excellent dinner at last in a pizza restaurant where I had a specialty called
" Suppa di Brodo alla Romana" ( veal stock soup) and back to the hotel we fell asleep like a light because of walking so much, actually it was the most exhausting day of our stay in Roma.

On the third day we decided to visit sights casually ( well, impossible when you're in Roma!!) so we just visited Piazza di Spagna, del populo, Campo di Fiori, Fontana di Brevis , Piazza di capitol, lots of churches too ( there's a church every other 5 metres) walked along lots a streets and the icing on the cake was a famous ice-cream ( gelatto) in a famous gellateria. That night the streets in Roma were very quiet because there was a football game on TV!
It was a a very nice stay, Roma is a very interesting place ( lots of sights to see : churches, ruins, piazza...) the problem was we wanted to see everything in a short time so it was exhausting but we really had a great time.
